J V Tennis Academy is a holistic tennis program located on Surfcoast Region in Victoria, Australia, aimed at delivering programs for all ages, abilities and goals; from grass-roots to grand slams. The vision for our academy was born from a simple dream; to create a tennis haven where every tennis player, regardless of their skill level or ambition, felt right at home.
In our little corner of the world, Tennis is not just a sport, it’s a passion that binds us together as a community. From our youngest players taking their first swings at the ball, to our seasoned veterans our doors are open to all who share a love for the game, or keen to give it a go.
G’day, I’m Jackson Varney, Founder and Head Coach at J V Tennis Academy. I have spent the majority of my life pursuing my goal of playing on the Pro Tennis Tour. When I said “Tennis is not just a sport”, I meant every word. For me it was a myriad of things, at one point in my life it was an outlet from school, at another it was a discipline, a craft to master, at another it was an excuse to hang out with friends, at another it was a reason to dream, be inspired and work as hard as I possibly could to achieve something. At another it was a scholarship to a University in the USA, and throughout all of it, it was a vehicle for learning almost every lesson there is to learn. I believe this is the case for all sports, for my personal journey the vehicle has been tennis, and as you can imagine, to the sport I am perpetually grateful.
I have been playing now for over 20 years, and in that time I competed in 5 continents and over 30 countries. Coaching for me began as another excuse to be on court, and an incredibly fulfilling way to give back to the sport which gave me so much. For the past 12 years I have collaborated with, worked under, and been mentored by some of the most esteemed coaches and educators in the world. Over this time I have learned many invaluable lessons, some of the most successful methodologies and philosophies for junior development, competitive and social adult players, and performance athletes. The goal for J V Tennis Academy is to amalgamate those lessons and experience learned over many years, and more importantly to enhance areas where I’ve experienced need for growth.
Integral to our Academy’s success is having an exceptional coaching team. Our coaching team are a group of dedicated professionals, who not only bring an abundance of experience but are life-long learners with a passion for helping others discover their potential. With a focus on mastering the fundamentals, personalised guidance, and above all, fun, our coaches role is to empower our players to develop into the best they can be, while fostering a culture of respect, discipline, sportsmanship and community.

Our tennis school is comprised of all our entry level programs such as Hot Shots, Cardio Tennis, Private, Semi and Group Lessons. It is the core of J V Tennis Academy, crafted as the starting line for every proficiency levee whether you’re a seasoned player or having your first ever swing. Our programs offer a welcoming environment where the emphasis is on progress, enjoyment and community.
